Congratulations PJ!

Our most fun foster ever was adopted today by a fabulous family. Many congratulations to all! You have a "houndsitter" for life. Our doors will always be open to you PJ (and Cookie too).

He was a little nervous on the ride there but ended up all smiles.

Hi all – Kelly here. I just want to give a little update on Peter. He has been here a little over a week and is doing just great! We really are having a lot of fun with this fun-lovin’ boy. He has had zero accidents in the house. He is SO curious about everything, but he is quickly learning what is okay and what isn’t. He has pretty much stopped counter surfing, but sometimes he still can’t help himself if you leave something really yummy where he can reach it. We are also having to work on my daughter leaving toys in the floor because he thinks anything left on the floor must be for him. He isn’t chewing things up, though. He just likes to collect things in his crate. He does great on our solid-surface flooring. We didn’t even have to teach him the stairs – he watched me go up the first night and then came up right behind me. He has done great in his crate during the day but doesn’t like it very much at night. He would love to have a family that will let him sleep on the floor in their bedroom.

He is doing great with my daughter. At first I thought he might be too playful for her, but he is surprisingly gentle. He is generally very excited and energetic when you first get up in the morning, when you get back from being out, et cetera, but he quickly settles down. He spends A LOT of time sleeping just like any other grey.

Here is one of him enjoying the sunshine outside today. He had a little spot on his back that was treated with antibiotics and has healed beautifully. Now we’re just waiting on the shaved hair to grow back, which won’t take long.

Loves chin scritches

Peter doing what he does best (besides cuddling). Isn't he stunning?

Peter can roach with the best of them. He is determined I’m not going to get a picture of him in the act, but I am pretty sneaky. Be sure to keep an eye out for roaching pictures!

Awesome Day!!!!!

Hi everyone!!! My name is Peter! You will not believe the week I’ve had. First, last weekend someone dognapped me from my kennel at Southland. That was A-okay with me because I am always up for new adventures. But, not long after that I ended up spending my birthday in an animal hospital getting what I heard someone call “vetted.” They were really nice there and all, but it’s really not the sort of place you want to spend your birthday. Then, this nice lady picked me up and took me to her house. I’ve just been hanging out with her and her hounds for a few days.

I was kind of bummed thinking everyone forgot all about my big day. I mean I turned two and that’s a pretty big deal, right? I’m not a baby anymore – I’m really a big boy now. Then guess what?!?!?! You’ll never guess… Today they threw me my very own surprise birthday party!!!!!! It was just about the bestest day ever! I had the yummiest chicken and carrot cupcakes with yogurt icing and presents and everything! I was so happy I could hardly stand it! I hope you like the pictures!

My foster mom ended up letting me have two since I'm two now:)

This lady who is calling herself my foster mom tells me we’re going to get out and meet lots of people soon at something called “meet and greet.” I’ll make sure she lets everyone know when and where we will be. You should definitely come out and see my handsomeness.

Hugs and kisses (and boy do I like kisses),

Peter

The First 24 Hours

The first day with Peter has been a lot of fun. It is easy to see why this sweet boy was favorite of the trainers at the track. I let my hounds outside when he got here so he could walk around and check things out, and within the first five minutes, he had kissed every human in the house several times and was already playing with stuffies! He is a happy boy - that tail never stops wagging.

We started working on house manners today and I'll post an update along with more pictures later this week.

After going out this morning, Peter hung out in his crate and played with stuffies while I got some work done. Sorry about the light - It was barely dawn and I was trying not to wake the other houndies!
